Merry Christmas!
This fortnight's game is a fun physics and logic challenge in which you have to help Santa pack different coloured baubles into boxes of a matching colour. Cut the tinsel in the correct order (using your mouse) to allow the baubles to swing, fall and roll into the correct place.
So where's the maths?
As in many traditional board games from across the world, success in this game requires visualisation, systematic thinking and a good dose of logic. It's your use of logic that's perhaps easiest to spot. Any time you think 'If ..... and ..... then....' in this type of game, there's a good chance you're applying your logic skills. Test it out as you play. How often do you find yourself thinking 'If I do this ... and move that, then ...' (or something similar)? Can you see how this connects with the type of maths you do in the classroom? What about in your daily life? This is really only the beginning of understanding logic, but it's a fun place to start. We'll be exploring logic much more in the coming weeks and months.
Add in a little bit of chance, as well as a need for speed and careful timing, and you've got a game you may enjoy exploring this Christmas time.
