Happy New Year!
Let's kick off 2014 by getting our minds fit and healthy. This fortnight's game provides a fun collection of 'brain training' activities aimed at developing your mental flexibility and strength.
Set yourself a challenge, try to beat your own best scores in the following challenges:
Accuracy – Find the centre of various 2D shapes in rotation.
Coordination – How quickly can you adapt to rotation and reflection in your movements?
Perception – How well can you track a moving target with your eyes and identify its position in an array?
Multi-tasking – Can you complete a simple calculation and identify properties of shapes at the same time (or at least before the time runs out)?
Memory – Can you remember the order in which a series of circles is presented?
Reactions – Put your fine motor skills to the test with your mouse
Speed – Test your keyboard knowledge and typing speed
I love the coordination test, I find it quite tricky but I'm really enjoying trying to build on my skills.
Which tasks do you find are the most challenging? Have you been able to improve your results through practice and persistence? If not, give it a go, you may surprise yourself. (Hint: If you'd like to try a task multiple times without refreshing the page, use the Single Event mode.)
Aside from the fun and the mental exercise, there are quite a few maths connections in this game too. Can you spot them? You may like to share your mathematical thoughts and observations on the blog page.
In the mean time, I'm going to have another go at the coordination challenge. Have fun!
